A Two-Way Table and a Test for Independence
200 students were surveyed about whether they study Physics (P) and whether they study Music (M). Of these, 60 study both P and M, 90 study P but not M, and 30 study M but not P.
(a) Find the number of students who study neither subject. [2]
(b) Find $P(M\mid P)$. [3]
(c) Determine whether studying Physics and studying Music are independent events, showing your reasoning. [4]
(a) $P$인원$=60+90=150$, $M$인원$=60+30=90$.
(b) $P(M\mid P)=\dfrac{60}{150}=0.4$.
(c) $P(M)=\dfrac{90}{200}=0.45$. $P(M\mid P)=0.4\neq0.45=P(M)$이므로 독립이 아닙니다.
